At a glance
- Tagshot reads your screenshots on your iPhone. Your screenshots, the text read from them, and your labels are never uploaded.
- There is no account, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking.
- The only data that leaves your device is what is needed to process the optional in-app purchase, through Apple and our purchase provider RevenueCat.
- Notifications are created on your iPhone. No push server is involved.
1. Who we are
Tagshot is an iOS app made by an independent developer, Emrecan (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information Tagshot handles and how. If you have questions, contact us at the address in section 10.
2. Your Photos library
With your permission, Tagshot reads the screenshots in your Photos library so it can recognize their text, label them and make them searchable. If you choose “Limited Access”, Tagshot only sees the photos you selected.
- Text recognition uses Apple’s on-device Vision framework. Images are processed on your iPhone and are not sent to us or anyone else.
- Tagshot never edits, moves or deletes anything in your Photos library.
- The only time Tagshot adds a photo is when you use its “Save & Label Screenshot” shortcut action, which saves the screenshot that shortcut just took.
3. Information stored on your device
To work, Tagshot keeps the following in its own storage on your iPhone:
- the text recognized in your screenshots, and their automatic titles and labels;
- labels, titles, notes and collections you create;
- your settings, such as notification preferences.
This information stays on your device. We cannot see it. It may be included in your device backup (iCloud or computer backup) according to your own backup settings, which Apple handles under its privacy policy. Deleting Tagshot deletes this information from your iPhone. You can also remove stored information for screenshots that are no longer in Photos from Tagshot’s Settings.
4. In-app purchase
Tagshot offers an optional one-time purchase that unlocks every label. Payment is handled entirely by Apple through your Apple ID. We never receive your name, email address or payment details.
To confirm and restore purchases, Tagshot uses RevenueCat, a purchase management service. RevenueCat receives:
- A random, anonymous app user ID created by the app, to link your purchase to your app install so it can be restored.
- Purchase history and App Store receipt data, to check whether the unlock was bought.
- Basic technical data, such as app version, iOS version, device type, country/store and IP address, to deliver the service and prevent fraud.
This data is not linked to your identity by us and is not used for advertising or tracking. RevenueCat handles it under its own privacy policy. Apple handles payments under the Apple Privacy Policy. Your screenshots and their text are never sent to RevenueCat or Apple.
5. Notifications and background refresh
If you allow notifications, Tagshot can tell you when new screenshots have been labeled and send a daily summary. These are local notifications: they are created and scheduled on your iPhone, and no push server or notification service receives any data.
Tagshot may use iOS Background App Refresh to read new screenshots while closed. This also happens entirely on your device. You can turn notifications off in Tagshot’s Settings or in iOS Settings.
6. Shortcuts and Siri
Tagshot provides actions for the Shortcuts app, such as “Label New Screenshots” and “Save & Label Screenshot”. When you run them, the work is done on your iPhone. Tagshot does not receive what you say to Siri.
7. What we don’t do
- We don’t collect analytics or crash data inside the app. If you choose to share diagnostics with app developers in iOS Settings, Apple may give us anonymous crash reports.
- We don’t show ads, use advertising identifiers or track you across apps and websites.
- We don’t sell or share personal information.
8. Children
Tagshot is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them. The app itself does not collect personal information from anyone.
9. Your choices and rights
You control Tagshot’s access to Photos and notifications in iOS Settings at any time. Because your content stays on your device, you can delete it by deleting the app.
For purchase data held by RevenueCat, contact us and we will help you request access to it or deletion. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have additional rights, and you can exercise them by contacting us.

11. Changes to this policy
If we change how Tagshot handles information, we will update this page and its effective date. Significant changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
